by Cpl. Robert L. Cook
Jan. 42~Sept. 45

Did you ever think
Of your web belt
And how you used it
For yourself?

Of how it carries
All your gear
And keeps it safely,
Front and rear.

How snug it feels
About your waist,
A trusted piece
Held well in place.

It holds the stuff
That you must use,
From canteen to
Cap and fuse.

A knife or pistol
Or first-aid pack,
A souvenir
Kept in a sack.

It was strong
And not too soft,
T'was good to take
The damn thing off!
