Jan. 42~Sept. 45
Every year, about this time,
I get the urge to produce rhyme
About the flag
And all it's glory.
A never, never ending story.
About the nation
Born of fire,
Of men who lived
With one desire:
To see that all who lived
Were free
As are you,
As is me.
They set aside
A special day
For which to sing,
For which to pray.
To inspire others
To take up the cause,
To forge ahead
Without pause.
To carry forth
The banner brave,
Beneath which we
Stand unafraid
Of tyrants that
Have cause to quake!
For we are strong
And stand for right.
We are not afraid
To fight,
That justice and freedom
May prevail.
Happy Fourth of July!
