by Cpl. Robert L. Cook
Jan. 42~Sept. 45
Our warriors have been
Gone too long
And yearn for the hills of home,
Their duty expectations
Have come and they
Have gone.
They have done their best
To thwart the foe
And like other times
In the past
Have faced superior numbers
Of which they are aghast.
They are not likely
To complain,
It is their way in war.
They stand and fight
With mighty might
And with faith endure
So bring them home
To us, Oh Lord,
We humbly do implore
For they have earned
Their nation’s pride
And should war
No more.
