It takes a Marine
To know what
It means
To carry traditions
That are true blue.

We've trod the world
With flag unfurled
And carried arms
For liberty.

We've fought
Far and wide
And kept our pride
Undaunted by
Shot and shell.

We've worn khaki
And greens
And for all that
They mean
Our blues
Are known
To the world.

It takes a Marine
To know what
It means
To carry on
When all about
Is askew.

No matter where
Life takes you,
When once you've
Been a Marine
You are ever grateful
For the stuff
That makes a Marine.
