Another Year
by Cpl. Robert Lin Cook
Jan 1942-Sep 1945

And so we close another year,
a year of joy and sorrow.
No matter what we say or do
there will be a tomorrow

We end each year with a wish
for better things to come,
a fervent prayer
for health and wealth,
for others
rather than yourself,
to remove all sorrow.

Old Father Time will soon be here
to end his obligations,
he will recant his yearly stash
of things that plagued
our world and nation.

His stories will be
told in tones
some onerous by nature,
the good and bad of the world
and of this troubled nation.

Let us not take
the news too sad
or be too discouraged.
Lest we lose our will, fight
the ever, ever-lasting fight
that brings a bright tomorrow.
Semper Fi!
