by Cpl. Robert L. Cook
Jan. 1942-Sept. 1945

Once we were warriors
in the service of the corps;
once we fought to save the land
as we'd done before.

Once we sailed the mighty blue
on ships of might and main;
once we thrust and parried
. . .it was a warrior’s game.

Now we live in harmony
and with a bit of pride;
now we know that history
will laud us far and wide.

We are part and parcel
of our nation's victories
for we were there
when needed and
served most gallantly.

So stand and take a bow
for honor is all yours;
we know that if it came to us
we would do it all over again.
Semper Fi!
