 As I approach
the big 9-Oh
I wonder where
the time did go.
Has it been there
all along and
did I miss it
in the throng?

Has there been
most of a century
passing by?
And where oh
where was I?
I had my share
of bloody war
and lived in peace
and tranquility
and did my work
as well as could be.
That speaks well of me.

Time has gone by
and I’m still here,
I know not when
or why or how.
When shall I take
that final step and
pass the guide-on
to the next in line
and bid farewell
to father time.
