by Cpl. Robert L. Cook
Jan. 42~Sept. 45
When I look around at me,
I think how lucky
Can I be?
I walk. . .I talk. . .I think
And do.
That ain't bad
For 82.
When I was young
And in the Corps,
Didn't think I'd make
Twenty four.
But things worked out,
As you can see,
And now I'm pushin'
Eighty three.
I earned a tiny bit
Of a name
For writin' verse
That some claim
Is purty good
As verses go.
I hope my brain
Stays with the flow.
From all of you
Who read my stuff,
I'd love to get a line.
If you can see
Your way clear,
Push your mail
Over here.
I'd be glad to
Answer back.
And that, my friends,
Is a livin' fact.
