When I look around at me,
I think how lucky can I be?
I walk, talk, think and do.
That ain't bad for 82.

When I was young
and in the Corps,
didn't think I'd make
twenty four but
things worked out
as you can see
and now I'm pushin'
eighty three.

I earned a tiny bit
of a name
for writin' verse
that some claim
is purty good
as verses go.
I hope my brain
stays with the flow.

From all of you
who read my stuff
I'd love to get a line.
If you can see
your way clear,
push your mail
over here.
I'd be glad to
answer back and
that, my friends,
is a livin' fact.
